Recycling Rules

RETRO RECYCLE ROOM

The best thing you can do to shrink your carbon footprint is to stop buying new stuff, which is hard, because you probably don't want to still wear that Juicy Couture terry cloth jumpsuit you thought was so hot two years ago. There will always be a (giant, insatiable, teenage girl-fueled) market for new clothes, which is is why I write about new clothing lines that are at least making an effort to increase their sustainability and reduce their waste.

But putting the market for new stuff aside for a moment, let's just enjoy the hard work of some of the online vintage boutiques who bring us awesome clothes that not only have zero carbon footprints, but are also just super cool and stylin'. They do the digging for you and find the real-deal terry cloth jumpsuits from the seventies- the ones nobody else has and that will never go out of style.

I'll find new ones each week, but for now here's one of my favorites:

buying vintage is an awesome idea. I love to buy vintage, but since i have alot of allergies sometimes i find it hard to wash out other people's laundry soap enough to wear it. That's why i started a vintage section on www.theokobox.com so i could sell the cool shit i find :) But can't wear ! yay!

I have the same problem with polyester. They are the clothes that have held up the best, but I live in LA and that's just not gonna fly with the heat. But some of the clothes are just amazing to look at.

Hey - i also wanted to let you know (i lost your e-mail address) but the new www.theokobox.com website has launched !! Some servers will pick it up at different times so if it looks like the old one, eventually it will magically be the new one. There's a few technical kinks to figure out over the next day or two to make the intigration smooth, but it looks good (i think !) ... check it out and tell me if you like it ?!!?
I made a coupon called "thegreenset" for 10% :)
