ROBERTA OAKS
For some reason I started to write about this eco-friendly designer out of Hawaii months ago, but never finished- perhaps her stuff wasn't available online at the time? Oh, well. It is now, which is great, because her stuff is very cute. She uses sustainable fabrics like bamboo, which probably grows in her front yard or something, and all her stuff is made locally and sweat-shop free in Hawaii. And her full name is Roberta Oaks Power, which is a pretty awesome name for an eco-friendly artist and fashion designer.

SubLet It Be
SUBLET
Tara and Inessah- just two girls from the backwoods of New York City, trying to make a living and doin’ the best they can. And the best they can do is an awesome new brand of eco-apparel made from organic cotton and bamboo! They are having a party today, and I was totally invited, because I’m awesome too. But alas, I’m far far away, in the tiny village of Los Angeles, CA. Sigh. Someday we will have to get all these small coastal towns together and form a coalition for something, I don’t know what, but we should have t-shirts. Organic t-shirts.
Anyway, the party is here:

and you can RSVP here:

So go to the party! And tell them that you love thegreenset and that you want thegreenset to be your best friend forevs.
I'm really excited about this brand. Their stuff is very cool, and elegant. Love it.

Trust Me, Juul Love It
JUUL
Suzanne Juul pretty much recycled herself into these lovely knitted garments made from Bambu (which is made from bamboo). She has this entire line of clothes made from renewable bamboo, and a bunch of things made from natural wool, too.
Oh, and celebrities love them, so there’s that, too. Celebs pay people to tell them what to wear- I’m telling you for free. So wear some Juuls to your next red-carpet event, even if that carpet is the welcome mat at your local CVS.

Put Some Covet In Your Closet

COVET
Okay, so the clothes are cute and I might even call them “wistful,” but the site for this erstwhile organic/ soy/ bamboo clothing line refers to its style as ”bondage.” What’s up with that? Is there some kinky cotton sub-culture I don’t know about? Do I really want to know about it? I’d rather know about clothes, and these clothes are sweet. Even the para-military stuff is sweet.

Make Designs On Undesigned
UNDESIGNED
Carol Young is an independent designer based out of Los Angeles who makes a line of clothes out of various eco-friendly materials, like bamboo denim, organic fleece, and surplus fabrics. Her clothes are great- I have like three shirts, a skirt, and a tunic-thing. And her denim skirts and pants are awesome, because they don't fade- they actually get darker the more you wash them. Magic? Witchcraft? Both? Who cares! They're cute, and desptie the name, all her clothes are extremely well-designed and very flattering.

Satori Moves
SATORI MOVEMENT
Technically, Satori Movement is first and foremost a skateboarding company- they make wheels and grip tape and other skateboard-y things, but they also make clothes! And shoes, and bags, and belts (to hold up those baggy skater pants), hats, and CLOTHES, out of bamboo, hemp, soy, and recycled materials.
Now, I haven't sported the skater look since I fell off my Mr. Men skateboard and cried, but it still has a certain appeal, even on girls. And you know you always check out that random guy on his board cruising past the bar at night. Don't deny it! I totally saw you looking at him! He was cute, in his hoodie and baggy pants (the only time that baggy pants are okay). So, for yourself or for your BF, check out Satori Movement's sweet line of eco-friendly clothing.

Loyale-T

Loyale
Loyale clothing was started by Jenny Hwa, who used to work for some big designers, but felt that the world was in need of a more eco-friendly brand of clothing. And she was right! Thank goodness she has been able to step up and fill the void with her cute and comfortable designs. I have this fake chinchilla hooker coat, and I love it. In fact, everyone loves it, and when I wear it out, people literally give me free stuff, like coffee and candy, just for looking so fly… no lie.
Loyale dresses, coats, and activewear are all made with organic or sustainable materials (bamboo), and surplus fabrics. And they are all lovely.

Join The Battalion
The Battalion
Linda and Chrys Wong are two sisters who set out to create a clothing line for women that was sexy yet comfortable, and made from sustainable or eco-friendly materials. What do you get when you combine those three things? Low-cut, formfitting organic and bamboo jersey clothes that look great and feel great. I have the bolero thing, and the Boudiccara dress. And guess what? I feel both sexy and comfortable. And if I ever stop feeling that way in my Battalion clothes, I can throw them on the compost and spread it on my garden and grow new clothes. That is how it works, right?

Totally Toggery
Toggery
Kate D’Arcy has created an environmentally- friendly clothing line using organic cotton and bamboo. The name Toggery is apt- her dual focus on design and sustainability has helped her to create a line of clothing with enduring style. Her clothes are fashionable yet simple- t-shirts, leggings, dresses, and fancy shirts. Nice.

Listen for Anna Cohen

Anna Cohen
Portland (represent) designer Anna Cohen has long been leading the way in eco-lux designer fashion. Her clothes are as elegant as they are sustainable. She uses bamboo, soy and organic materials to make her high-fashion dresses, shirts and denim. I would even venture to say that her eco-friendly fashion philosphy and excellent taste has been an inspiration to the sustaible fashion industry in general. And her middle name is Blossom, which is great, because it means she’s down with trees.
