Useful DePloyment

DEPLOY

This “demi-couture” clothing label out of London makes multi-purposed clothing that is designed to be recycled and re-used as multiple outfits, kind of like Lara Miller’s ingenious Flip Dress. The clothes are versatile and adjustable, so that a shirt can take you from a PTA meeting to gallery opening with the simple buttoning on of a fancy sleeve or two, the idea being that you have thus eliminated the need for a separate shirt for each event.

I know, this might seem a little flimsy on the eco-friendly tip, but remember that weird tube dress company back in the 80’s, where everything thing was a tube and you could make them into shirts and skirts and scarves and headbands, and leg warmers even? That was awesome. More to the point, a solid, updatable wardrobe could significantly reduce fashion waste, and this boutique encourages its customers to come in for adjustments and ”refreshments” of their wardrobe any time they please. They totally won’t let you do that at the GAP. I tried.
